I conduct ecological and environmental research into the effects of human activities on biodiversity and ecosystem function. My work extends across ecosystems (aquatic freshwater and marine, forest, agricultural), taxonomic groups (birds, mammals, fish, insects, plants), and biogeographic regions. I perform and/or advise on all aspects of ecological and environmental research including: study design, ecological methods, statistical quantitative analysis (including stock assessment), report writing, and scientific peer-review. Projects range from basic questions on ecosystem dynamics including population dynamics, community ecology, food-webs, and energy flow, to applied questions about harvest levels, risks of environmental alterations, and benefits of restoration programs. Although I am capable of completing all aspects of ecological study from conception to completion, most contracts focus on either statistical analysis, report writing, or peer review. I also offer university-level ecological and environmental education courses in ecology, fisheries and wildlife management, and ecological methods. Contracts typically last between 2 weeks and 2 years.

A short list of services I provide:

  1. Field study design

  2. Field work and managing a team of field researchers and technicians.

  3. Statistical analysis and report writing on ecological projects ranging from basic scientific inquiry to results that will be directly used to make management decisions

  4. Scientific peer-review of studies in the fields of ecology, and fisheries and wildlife management

  5. Scientific collaboration in all aspects of ecological science (i.e. grant writing, study design, project lead or support, primary publication).

  6. Teaching university courses in ecology, and fisheries and wildlife management
